Medicine Summer School

Students Aged 16-19 Years

The Medicine summer school at BioGrad Education is an intensive and immersive programme designed to provide students aged 16-19 with a comprehensive introduction to and experience in the field of medicine. Through hands-on clinical experience, expert-led workshops, and medical school preparation, students acquire essential skills, explore medical specialties, and gain an insider’s view of the healthcare profession, ready to handle their progression into medical studies.

Basic & Advanced Life Support

Training in CPR, airway management, spinal injury management

Cardiology

Deep dive into heart health, conducting full OSCE-style cardiovascular examination

Pulmonology

Practical experience in OSCE-style Respiratory examinations

Interpret chest X-rays, conduct spirometry (lung function testing), and perform peak flow testing

Venesection (Blood Collection)

Blood collection techniques using medical phlebotomy training arms

Analyse Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) samples

Cannulation & Intraosseous Cannulation

Hands-on experience with intravenous (IV) cannulation

Cancer Care & Ultrasound

Ultrasound scanning techniques

Practice ultrasound-guided biopsies

Medical School Preparation:

Applications & Personal Statement Workshop

Admissions Testing, Interview Techniques & Mock Interviews

Visit to Medical School & Hospital Facility

Fracture Management

Hands-on experience in plaster casting techniques

Diagnose and describe bone fractures

Suturing

Practice various suturing techniques

Common ED Presentations

Emergency Department (ED)

Presentations, including acute abdominal trauma, infections, stroke, and myocardial infarction (MI)

ABCDE Patient Assessment Method

ABCDE (Airway-Breathing-Circulation-Disability-Exposure) method
