Chinese Language & Culture School Trip

This program gives your students a chance to practice their Mandarin and to learn about Chinese culture first-hand. Through activities like school exchanges, calligraphy, handicrafts, poetry, music, and food - learners experience Chinese culture in a way that is both educational and fun!

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at Taipei Airport and meet your program leaders and program guides. Transfer to your hotel and check in. Enjoy the view from the tenth tallest building in the world, Taipei 101.

Day 2

Transfer to Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf to begin a series of language adventure activities leading students through Fort Santo Domingo and ending in Tamsui Old Street.
Have lunch on Tamsui Old Street. Meet our expert Shih Yen-Shiang for a lecture on the relationship between Taiwan and Mainland China and the history of Taiwan’s Indigenous communities. (Note: Expert availability and time are subject to confirmed booking).
Enjoy dinner at a famous night market with a snack tour and language scavenger hunt game.

Day 3

After breakfast, checkout of your hotel and pack light for 3 nights out in Hualien.
Transfer to Hualien by train (2 hrs) and have a short hike along the beach. (Additional option: dolphin & whale watching, depending on season.) Visit Taroko Gorge. Meet and learn about the Amis Indigenous peoples through participating in a tribal field game and an evening musical dancing activity. Stay overnight at Leader Village Taroko, an Amis-run guesthouse, to get a sense of the local way of life. (Additional option: adventure river tracing.)

Day 4

Travel over to the Kiwit people, another Amis Indigenous peoples, and learn how to cook Kiwit cuisine. Visit the Kiwit Tribes Museum to learn more about the culture and folklore of the Kiwit people. Experience fish hunting in the afternoon with an Amis guide. Stay overnight in a thatched house that's traditional to the Kiwit people.


Day 5

Experience a rafting tour with the Amis, in which we learn more about the wisdom of the Amis ancestors (秀姑峦溪泛舟).  After lunch, travel to Shitipin Campground. Prepare the campsite and have a BBQ dinner and movie night at the campground. (Additional team building games and activities are available upon request).


Day 6

Cycle along the coast enjoying the breathtaking scenery and fresh air. Visit the College of Indigenous Studies and attend the Aboriginal Youth Conference with young Indigenous students sharing their life stories and studies.

Head back to Taipei by train (2hrs) and check-in to your hotel. Dinner at the famous Toilet Restaurant. (Additional Activities: visit Guang Fu Sugar Factory & Lin Tian Shan Old Logging Village.)

Day 7

Engage in community service with the Sweet Potato Mama Program, a project helping single mothers to live independently by supporting them to become vendors of traditional Taiwanese sweet potatoes. Support the mamas by helping them sell sweet potatoes and get to know them as they teach you how to roast these snacks. Have lunch and, afterwards, visit the Sungye Museum of Formosan Aborigines. Take part in a pineapple cake and pastry making cooking workshop.

Day 8

Eat breakfast and check out of your hotel in the morning. (Optional morning activity: visit the Children Are Us Foundation.) Transfer to Taipei Taoyuan Airport for your international flight home.
