School Trip to Singapore

Singapore is a city-state in Southeast Asia. Founded as a British trading colony in 1819, since independence it has become one of the world's most prosperous, tax-friendly countries and boasts the world's busiest port. Combining the skyscrapers and subways of a modern, affluent city with a medley of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences along with a tropical climate, tasty food from hawker centers, copious shopping malls, and vibrant night-life scene, this Garden City makes a great stopover or springboard into the region.​

Students will get a glimpse into Singapore’s culture and history as we stride through historical sites to discover more about the country’s colorful culture and fascinating traditions. They will have authentic learning experience for as they journeyed through the corridors of a key installation during Singapore’s darkest period. Students will walk away not only knowing more about the Singapore food culture and heritage, but also with more motivation and courage to try out local cuisine!​

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Changi International Airport.

Meet your program leader at the arrival hall of the airport.

Day 2

Your cultural tour of Singapore begins with a visit to Chinatown and discovering the rich heritage of Chinatown through insightful stories of Singapore’s largest ethnic group, the Chinese. ​

Visit the Thian Hock Keng Temple, one of the oldest Buddhist-Taoist temples on Singapore Island. We then proceed to Kampong Glam where you will understand more about the Malay culture along with a visit to the magnificent Sultan Mosque. Our final visit for the culture tour is to Little India, a haven of Indian culture and ethnicity that embodies the vibrant and colorful pulse of the Indian community in Singapore. ​

Next stop, the Asian Civilizations Museum. It is dedicated to exploring Asia’s rich artistic heritage, especially the ancestral cultures of Singaporeans. ACM focuses on the historical connections among Asian cultures, and between Asia and the world. ​Finish the day with a Bumboat River Cruise along the Singapore River. The Singapore River is like a witness to its history. On both sides of the river, you will see colonial buildings, traditional Chinese shops, and modern skyscrapers, each of which would tell you an exciting story of Singapore. ​

Day 3

This morning we visit the Battle Box at Fort Canning. It is a World War II underground bunker command center. It was used by the Allied force as a communication center in the war against the Japanese in the Malaya campaign in 1942 and it was where the momentous decision to surrender Singapore to the Japanese on the 15th of February 1942. ​

In the afternoon, proceed to the National Museum. With a history dating back to its inception in 1887, the National Museum of Singapore is the nation’s oldest museum. ​

This evening, students will visit the Night Safari Zoo. The world's first safari park for nocturnal animals. The wildlife park is home to more than 2500 animals from over 130 species.

Day 4

Today we visit Universal Studios Singapore.  Southeast Asia’s first Hollywood movie theme park, which features an enticing selection of attractions, rides and entertainment for families and thrill-seekers. Visitors will find 24 movie-themed rides that were designed just for the Singapore park.​

Day 5

This morning we visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Students will enjoy a unique trekking tour experience in the Singapore Botanic Gardens Rain Forest, learning the secrets about giant trees and rare plants in the context of the fragile and unique rainforest ecosystem comprising both plans and animals along with visiting the Orchid Research Centre. ​

Then, we stop off at the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is a one-stop exhibition, education and research facility servicing a multitude of biodiversity activities in Singapore and Southeast Asia. This gallery tour aims to introduce students to the vast array of specimens showcased in the biodiversity and heritage galleries. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop.​

Day 6

This morning we proceed to Dialogue in the Dark Singapore to experience everyday situations – in complete darkness. Experience the Signature Tour in the Dark, where students will experience everyday life as a visually impaired person. Accompanied by a blind guide, go through themed rooms that simulate everyday environments. ​

Following this enjoy a full-course lunch meal in complete darkness! You will undergo a transformational yet challenging process in relying on your other senses to help you dine. These are designed for students, to enable them to develop empathy, non-visual communication, confidence and self-awareness. ​

After we will head to the Singapore Discovery Centre to learn about the history and future of Singapore. Engaging exhibits for students, providing useful insights into what makes Singapore tick. ​

Day 7

Sentosa Island. Will start the tour with a scenic Cable Car Ride where we see the beautiful landscape of the city. Our attraction is to the Images of Singapore, where we’ll embark on a journey to experience the colorful culture and vibrant heritage of Singapore, re-told through life-size figures, animatronics, and special effects. ​

Our next stop is the wax museum of Madame Tussauds. Following this is some adventure with the Skyline Luge and experience the first luge ride in Southeast Asia via four different tracks. We also visit Fort Siloso, Singapore’s only preserved coastal fort that stands as a witness to one of the most tempestuous chapters in local history that of WW11. Our final stop is at the S.E.A Aquarium, the world’s largest aquarium. Explore more than 800 species of marine animals such as majestic manta rays and over 200 sharks through the world’s largest window to the ocean.​

Later in the afternoon we depart for China Town night markets where we test our bargaining skills before enjoying our farewell dinner at the Yum Cha restaurant. 

Day 8

Free & Easy until you check out of the hotel and transfer to Changi International Airport.

Visit the Changi Experience Studio. A state-of-the-art digital experience. The Changi Experience Studio utilizes technology to present a diverse mix of unique experiences under one roof, including interactive games, projection storytelling, immersive shows and gallery exhibits.
